How I Learned to Packaging and Shipping

When we got our first order, I was excited. Until...I had to ship it. Sure, I had a box full of SercaCases in my closet, but I had no idea how to write a shipping label or package a box or much of anything else. The first time I packaged four SercaCases, the process took over two hours. Firstly, I hadn't realized that I would need boxes to ship the cases in. I scavenged the house for small, empty Amazon boxes. The boxes were enormous and ended up costing us way too much to ship, but they were all we had. I packed the boxes with bubble wrap and added a personal touch by wrapping the cases in tissue paper and writing a personal note. With the help of Google, I hand-wrote the addresses on note cards and taped them to the boxes. I later found a free add-on called Shippo, which finds discounted shipping labels and prints them for me. I also ordered a 50-pack of correctly sized boxes.

The second time I had to ship some SercaCases, it only took me fifteen minutes to package two boxes, but I accidentally used thin Scotch tape instead of sturdy box tape. It was a wonder the boxes found their targets without the labels peeling off. I got better at it as time went on, and yesterday it took me five minutes to make three boxes. That's what I call progress.
